Too Much For Too Little

July 2, 2008 @ 09:02

As crazy as the Finger signing is, there’s something else that could happen in the NHL in the next few days that could be considered even more ridiculous.

The Vancouver Canucks have offered Mats Sundin twenty million dollars over two years.

I’ve got to say, if this happens, from my perspective it will be the biggest waste of money in NHL history.

Ten million dollars a season for a 38 year old player who’s not sure he really wants to play anymore.

Even in his prime, Mats Sundin never really accomplished much in Toronto, so an offer of twenty million dollars over two years, actually makes the Finger signing look better.

Hey Freddie, overall love your stuff and site but this might be my last reply to your numberous sundin put downs.
True leaf fans love him, appreciate him for what he did and wish him well regardless of his choices. He gave alot of heart and soul to an overall poorly run crappy team.

I get it. YOu do no like him. Alot of people do not like him. HOwever alot of true fans can appreciate what he did.

Well, let's chalk up the Canucks offer to the inexperience of Gillis as a GM. But how to explain Sather and Gainey's interest? I've even heard that the mighty Red Wings have expressed interest. What does Freddie know that these guys don't??? Why aren't they visiting this blog?

As far as hockey goes, Im not a huge fan of any team, but what i se here is that The Leafs who I do tend to watch and if you want to call it follow, have needed a change for a good few years.

Sundin needs to go and the Leafs need to redo all of their team, get rid of the shit they have, lose another season, trade the likes of McCabe and any other piece of shit they now have and build a new team that in a few years can compete in the NHL

Fred your dislike for Sundin is apparent, but you really need to look at his Leaf statistics (and they are impressive) to know what he did with the Leafs with very little back-up. I believe Steve Simmons (Toronto Sun) backed this up in his column on Monday. Check them out and then let us know how you really feel.

Mats Sundin - Good player who, in typical Leafs fashion , was allowed to linger for far too long. The last time they got it right was when they actually aquired Sundin in the first place, trading away the popular Wendall Clarke.
