Slackin' Off

April 12, 2007 @ 07:19

Indian Shores, FLA - Not a lot of material on this Thursday. Yesterday was a busy day in Florida. The weather was spectacular so I spent most of the day with my ass parked on the beach.

Later in the afternoon I played bocce then it was out on the town for some Thai food and then back to the condo to watch some hockey.

That was the only discouraging part of the day. The Ottawa Senators crushed the Pittsburgh Penguins 6-2 and I haven't wavered from my long standing position. Whenever anybody asks me who I want to win the Stanley Cup, I say "ABO" - anybody but Ottawa.

But there's nothing to sweat at this point. You might recall the Senators would always beat the Leafs big in the frist game of their playoff series before crumbling and choking like a bunch of pathetic sissys.

I got a couple of e-mails yesterday asking me what I thought of the Belinda Stronach story but I haven't had time to digest it yet. I'm off the golf course right, and then I plan on spending a couple of hours this afternoon putting some stuff together for tomorrow.

Hey, I've got an idea. Why don't you guys do the work today. Click the "discuss" button and tell me what you think of Belinda and the Senators. Come on, do it, and be creative. Let's try and get at least 20 postings. Help FreddieP.ca.

That's it, that's all - Loving each and every one of ya's.

Okay Freddie I will take the first shot at it
The Belinda thing is very simple. With Magna about to purchase Chrysler they decided that she needed to come back home and help run the core businnes While Daddy and EX Hubby work on the other new project
AS for the PENS I like you hate Ottawa but I think the pens are just too young
I think the Sens will win this round but are done in the next round Sorry

Maybe she went back so the family can buy not only all of Aurora and Newmarket but maybe Bradford and all the way up the 400 to Barrie.

Maybe she will date Mats Sundin next.

Belinda has had the largest silver spoon in her mouth for so long I am still amazed she can speak.... Anyway, she kind of reminds me of the spoiled "kilt wearing" rich girl from the all girl Catholic high school who was the scratching post for all the neighbourhood boys

Belinda became a politician for her own ambition and benifit. She showed this by jumping teams when it would benifit her personally. The tables turned and she was then on the outside looking in. Daddy kept a place for her at the family business and so she ran home to Daddy. She is almost as self abosorbed as Tie Domi.

The biggest idiots of all are her slavish constituents who voted for this hag no matter what party she shilled for. Let's be honest, this woman is a spoiled, vain "daddy's girl". It became clear to her that becoming Prime Minister would entail a long term commitment and a stable personal life. As Murph said, she's run home to
Daddy, from whom it's much easier to get what she wants. Besides, now she doesn't have to learn French.

I dislike the Senators almost as much as I HATE the habs !! Pittsburg will have their work cut out for them, but I think they will come out on top.
As for Belinda ... I never had any respect for her. I can't believe she got reelected the last time around. I hope her and Tie have a great time together ... as long as they both just go away.

She never wanted a role in government unless it was an important one. Stephen Harper beat her ass so she invented ways to disagree with him and move on. She stepped on Peter McKay, Paul Martin, Martha Hall Findlay and Lucienne Robillard in her continuous grasps for power. The Liberals are in third place now and likely to stay that way for a while. Meanwhile, at home there is the possibility for her to help acquire Chrysler for Daddy's company - a lot more prestigious than what she can accomplish in government right now. And besides, she can probably get Domi a job at the security desk or mail room.

Jim has it right on the belinda front i think. She runs Magna Daddy runs Chrysler. Also she may not have been comfortable with the tabloid exposure. I'm not in her riding so I don't feel too strongly.

As for the Sens. Pittsburg wins the next 4 straight when the Sens are bowled over by gary Roberts :)

I hate the Sens even more than I do the Habs. But I believe the Sens will win this in 5 or 6. Ultimately, goaltending will lose the series for the Pens. All they need to do is trade some of their offensive talent for a reliable goalie. My prediction: Sens and the Canucks in the finals.

As for Belinda, her father will not give her the keys to the car. She will be given a token position with Magna.

Gee, it's amazing all of us "Freddie" lovers seem to agree on spoiled brat Linda. I guess what finally made up her mind to leave politics, was having a jackass as a leader (Dion)and a new opportunity (possibly Chrysler)at daddy's company.

Although I can't stand the Sens, I think their experience will win over Pittsburg. But after that, they're done.

Hey Freddie,

Regarding Ottawa, I'm with you and was disappointed with the score last night - But no worries - Ottawa definitely will NOT win the cup this year - I'd bet my life on it.

And Belinda - this doesn't really come as a surprise to me as I haven't had much respect for her since she "switched" sides - she may as well have crawled back to Daddy then. But the funny thing is that when I heard about Belinda on the radio this morning - my first thought was "I can't wait to hear what Fred has to say about this!!"

Always enjoying your site and your opinions...

SENS WILL WIN FREDDIE !!

I don't hate the Sens like I hate the Habs. I just don't think about Ottawa much at all. Kind of like I don't think about Belinda much either!

Belinda seemed to be in politics for self-centered reasons and with Dion as leader even she is bright enough to know that the Liberals are not going to win in the next election.

The timing must have been right at her father's company, Magna, and so she made the logical - and still self-centered - choice.

Bye Bye Belinda and don't hit your ass on the way out!

I think Belinda is power hungry and realized moving to the Liberals was a career ending move. Once they elected Dion, it's game over for the Liberals and her has a potential cabinet minister. Plus, with Magna looking at Chrysler, who wouldn't want to take on the biggest challenge of saving a failing car company.
Ottawa in 5, GO SENS GO.

Sweet Pam

Well I don't follow the game all that closely but as a Torontonian, the Leafs are my team, and as such, I want the Sens to lose.

About Stronach all I have to say is good riddance. I hope she and Domi ride off into the sunset together and are never heard from again!
The Sens the hated hated Sens. First off all the sports channels are all over Fleury this morning. Give him a break his defense was MIA. Crosby only had 3 shots on goal and even Roberts got knocked on his ass 3 times. NO WAY they do that again in game 2!
Crosby will settle down and Roberts will come out hitting anything that moves. Watch for Alfredsson to dissapear and Emery to let in a bad goal. Things will quickly unravel from there.
It doesn't matter anyway Buffalo will pound anyone who gets in there way!

I'm sure being pushed to the back bench was about as exciting as watching turtles sleep. Plus with the Liberals new leader who can't speak english, who can blame her. Poor little rich girl. Lets look for her to take her little pal Domi and give him a token position in the company. Hows VP of investor marketing relations sound??

I heard about your blog on the Team 1200 and its true, you are an asshole.
Leaf fans are such losers. your team doens't make it so you have to critisize other teams. Get a life Leaf fans.

What Trish and Sweet Pam said about Belinda. Yes. Nail on the head. And she has the attention span of a gnat. I'm surprised she lasted this long in politics. She changes men and jobs like I change my underwear. (everyday, in case you were wondering)

Reg

Ottawa will choke on Pittsburgh and Belinda will choke on Tie.

Stuart

Freddie the Pens will come back and take the series. tai is spelled THAI for your info.

Freddie you've got to write about Belinda. What do you think of this bitch.

Christian
April 12, 2007 / 19:40

Hey Sens fans you only hate the Leafs so much because we OWN YOUR ASSES IN THE PLAYOFFS! So enjoy your hollow regular season victories. You know the Leafs have more heart, even if we lack your skill.

Pete
April 12, 2007 / 19:42

@Clayton - Maybe you should read a little more before you spout off at FreddieP. First of all, he is a FAN, short for Fanatic. I think he is one of the last people to ever be criticized for his opinion on the Leafs. Read about what he thinks of Sundin and the head office.

It's no secret that he has been a long time Sens hater, as with most Leaf fans, not just a "we didn't make the playoffs, let's bash the pussy Sens" bandwagoner.

Oh yeah, and get a spell checker. You probably use IE too.

As for Belinda, good for her. I'd like to hear from any one of you that didn't take a job to further your career, increase your pay, or better your life. Politics wasn't her thing obviously, but she jumped in and tried it, it's probably good that she got out so fast too. She is a good business woman and will do better without the scum bag media scrutinizing her every detail. I really don't care what colour dress she wore, or if she in fact wore pants on a particular day, what type of makeup she wears or who she's bangin'. Whatever!

Go Penguins! (As the man said, ABO!)

Looks like we got a real hater in Clayton!

Graham
April 12, 2007 / 21:32

Clayton isn't a hater he's a realist. Leaf fans blow and the Sens rule.

Max
April 12, 2007 / 21:36

Clayton, my boy. We don't just criticize the Sens just because the Leafs didn't make the playoffs. We criticize the Sens because they're the Sens. Sorry, but you back a skirt-wearing squad of choke-artists, who haven't been able to capitalize on years of first-round picks. In that way, you could argue that Ottawa is less successful than Toronto. I think it would be hilarious if Tampa Bay managed to win another one before the Senators even get a sniff of one.
