Yesterday I had a posting called "The Evolution of Rock and Roll" and it rubbed somebody the wrong way.

In the posting I said this "Talk about the evolution of rock and roll. I remember back in the early 80's Q-107 listeners would often accuse CFNY of playing nothing but "fag" bands and the Police were near the top of the list.

It didn't take long before I got a response from Toronto radio veteran Lee Eckley who wrote this.

Great to hear from Lee.
I remember listening to him as a kid. He inspired me to get into radio and then TV. Hope you're doing well Lee.
I remember playing hockey against him some 20 years ago. I think Greg Manziuk took him out with an open ice bodycheck and separated his shoulder. Hope it's healed up real good.

I distinctly remember Q107 calling U2 "that fag band" when they first appeared on the music scene.

And John...... I challenge your recollection. Firstly, nobody I worked with at Q107 would have made such a stupid, hateful remark. Secondly, he or she would have been subjected to immediate dismissal. Lastly, your blanket statement tarnishes the reputation of the station and all who were employed there. Your false assertion is just as offensive!
